About this deal

Shelf-Beams come in two lengths (700mm and 375mm), so you can have two rows of shelves if you want. This isn’t the case with TrussShelves. Additionally, our product only works in houses where the spacing between each truss, measured from the centre of one truss to the centre of the next one, is about 600mm (or 24″), which is what the vast majority of new build houses have. Builders often often don’t fit trusses very accurately, so we allow for up to 30mm variance, e.g. your trusses can be up to 630mm apart. Because each panel is designed to slide over the top of the one next to it, it doesn’t matter if your trusses are a little bit less than 600mm apart in places.

Well, this is a question we can’t answer online, as every house is different! But we can give some general guidance to help you make your own decision. Most new-build houses now come with a 10 year warranty, underwritten by companies such as NHBC, Premier or LABC. If LoftZone products were fitted by your builder as a paid-for option, then they will usually be covered under this warranty, because the warranty typically covers the materials and the labour of the items fitted by the builder. Important documents, stationery, loose cables and to-do lists can spill out onto surfaces throughout the house when you’re working from home. I received two sets of 375mm and 700mm loft zone shelf beams. Each set had 5 beams and screws required to fit to trusses and to screw the boards to the beams. I used my own boards.

For those of us who prefer to work out at home, finding storage for exercise equipment can be a challenge. From yoga mats thrown over doors to kettlebells sitting on bookshelves, gym equipment can quietly build-up clutter throughout the home. Place the shelf boards on the Shelf-Beams with each end approximately halfway across a beam, fastening them in place with the screws provided. Another regulation, for all buildings since 2015, is called CDM 2015, and this mandates that a loft must be strong enough to safely carry person(s) walking around, e.g. for any maintenance that is needed in the future. Firstly, are your joists evenly spaced? In most new houses, joists are 400mm or 600mm apart (measured from the centre of one joist to the centre of the next one – not the distance between the joists), and our Cross-Beams that span 1.2m are designed perfectly for them. In some older houses, the joists are 450mm apart, in which case our 1.8m Cross-Beams are ideal. But some older houses have inconsistent joist spacings, and for them, there is never going to be one Cross-Beam length that will fit perfectly between every joist, so sometimes you will have to cut the beams to size where needed, so that they always end on top of our plastic supports. If your loft has lots of variably-spaced joists, then we’d recommend that you choose the 1.8m Cross-Beams, to minimise cutting, and that you have a saw available.

More free space– free up the space in your home by moving items you don’t use into your loft storage room Cheaper than a conversion– fully converting your loft is expensive, but by creating a non-habitable space, the loft storage price is far lower Banish the storage containers that don’t match the design of your room and install an angled chest of drawers to transform awkward loft space into a sleek and mess-free space.

Method

Loft boards in the UK (including the ones we supply) are rectangular, with a tongue-and-groove along each long edge, so that you can slot one board into the one next to it, for added strength. In addition to this, before LoftZone was invented, people used to stagger the boards when they laid them, so that each board ended half way along the long edges of the two boards next to it. When you’re happy with the positioning of all the shelves, screw them to the trusses through the holes in the lugs, as shown. Use the longer screws provided. Rather than just ramming in boxes and bags and hoping for the best – something which can compromise or damage insulation – look for smarter solutions.
