Arthur Simpson-Kent, pictured holding son Amon, is believed to be in Ghana
On Tuesday 5th January the bodies of missing ex EastEnders actress Sian Blake, 43, and her two sons – eight-year-old Zachary and Amon, 4 – were discovered by police in the back garden of their south London family home.
Today it has been revealed that an international investigation is underway to track down Arthur Simpson-Kent, Sian’s boyfriend and the father of her two children, who is believed to have left the country following his wife and children’s disappearance.
It is believed that 48-year-old Mr Simpson-Kent, who the police classified as a “high risk missing person” in mid-December may currently be in Ghana.
Simpson-Kent, a self-employed hairstylist, has a 16-year-old daughter from a marriage in 1999 which later fell apart, with his ex-wife and daughter moving to France.
In an increasingly complex investigation questions are being raised as to why it took so long for an official missing persons appeal to be launched and also why the bodies of Miss Blake and her boys were not found earlier by police, given that they had visited the family home several times over the past few weeks.
Sian and her two boys were last seen on 13th December when they visited relatives in East London but a formal investigation into their disappearance was not underway until January 1st – almost three weeks after they first went missing. Met police first searched their family home on December 18, missing the three bodies buried in the garden.
The Directorate of Professional Standards is now examining the police’s handling of the case. “The Directorate of Professional Standards was informed on January 4 and is working with the investigation team to fully understand the timeline of police interaction with the family,” said a spokesperson for Scotland Yard.
One neighbour described Sian as “lovely” and “a really great neighbour.”
Another said, “I am in shock, I can't talk. It is really hurtful. I know the lady. I see the children playing at the back. I say hello all the time. We are not close but she was a very happy woman.”
