A 32-year-old man has been charged with shooting dead Jordan Thomas, 22, in the centre of Sheffield two weeks ago in what appears to have been a targeted attack.
Asif Yousaf, 32, who was arrested on Christmas Day, was charged with the murder of Jordan Thomas on Saturday.
Thomas was shot at as he was sat in the passenger seat of a car waiting at traffic lights in Sheffield’s city centre.
“Jordan, from the Waterthorpe area of Sheffield, was a passenger in a silver Ford Mondeo, when the car was shot at while stationary on Derek Dooley Way,” said the police in an official statement.
Mr Thomas was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards from the gunshot injuries.
The family of the victim said: “Jordan truly was full of life. With his cheeky grin and quick wit, he was a charmer. Anyone lucky enough to have met Jordan will attest to this and those that have met him truly did love him.”
The young man’s family last week described the murder as an “act of cowardice” as they appealed for anyone with information or who witnessed the attack to come forward and help the police investigation.
