About this deal

With 25 poems and many full-page illustrations that use watercolour and collage, you won’t be able to pick The Book of Clouds up without wanting to immediately start making your own cloud diary. Her fourteen-year-old son, Zach, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of pediatric bone cancer. My mom and I shared an iTunes account back in the day and that’s where I first heard the song “Clouds” which this re-released book is now titled. With a book like this, you bring a little bit of the vastness of the universe into your home for their little minds to comprehend.

The book is edited by one of Britain’s best paraglider pilots Hugh Miller and former BBC journalist Andrew Craig who between them have more than 50 years of free-flight experience.

They take on the forms of other things: a cat, the sea, my grandmother, the gesture of a teacher I loved, a friend, a girlfriend, a ship at sail, my mother.

It hits the hardest whenever I read about young people dying either by a fatal illness like cancer or an accident. On the other hand, if you’re looking to gift a book about clouds to a child, you’ll need to pick up something that’s more at their level. This makes it sound like a picture book with a moral (which can be terribly patronizing), but it doesn’t feel like that at all. And above all, it’s an example of the amazing things that happen when someone shares the most precious thing he has—himself. This is the story told by Zachs mom about his battle with cancer and how he kept his faith and positivity throughout his battle. It is full of playful poems, inspiring, anarchic illustrations, and guides to all of the different aspects of clouds that you could want to know about.

Even though the material is scientific, this book follows a logical progression that makes the information easy to understand. Until today, I have kept the Clouds song on my playlist because yes, it is very catchy and beautiful and I love it. I would definitely recommend this book to others if you want to seek something to motivate you to keep on moving on with your life.Head in the Clouds has been received with much critical acclaim, including being listed as one of the top 10 outdoor books of 2023 by The Scotsman, Scotland’s national newspaper. But with each of those changes and each new cloud formation, the sky is letting you know what to expect when it comes to the weather. Clouds aren’t always visible, but they are such a regular aspect of life that they seem to become something mundane most don’t notice regularly. Laura Sobiech has lovingly written her son Zach's memoir, Clouds, after losing him in an agonizing battle with cancer. But I know the people who have taught me the most about what it means to live a faith-filled life are those who live it and then wait for people to ask how.

Whether you’re a weather watcher, an enthusiast, or just really curious, this is a fun book to explore. After watching and reading the book/film Zach's spirit has been so apparent in my own life, I now look up to the clouds on a sunny day and my cup is filled with tremendous joy and hope, I feel his presence when I play "Clouds" on guitar in the room, it just becomes laden with this massive sense of happiness in the moment which I cannot even explain. This is what Laura Sobiech prayed when she found out her seventeen-year-old son had only one year to live.Auf Disney+ haben wir den Film „Clouds“ gefunden, der auf einer wahren Begebenheit beruht und ich war einfach unheimlich gerührt. I will admit that I was not prepared for the faith aspects of this book and I felt like that was unabalanced within the overall book.
