About this deal

These European tuners all offer what is similar power ( ok Hirsch is lagging behind as you'd expect) These tuners are incredibly lightweight but still durable enough to put up with gigging abuse. They have a smooth action when tuning plus a vintage-correct split tuning post. These tuners are designed as close to original 60s Kluson tuners as possible, so they add performance as well as a sense of authenticity to any Strat or Telecaster style guitar. The American Specials' colour range is very limited albeit tasteful, with the Tele available only in three-tone sunburst and Olympic white. Our Tele is sunburst and features the thin polyurethane finish that, unlike the matt look of the Highway One models, emanates a classy and upmarket vibe. In fact, at first, it's not easy to see where - and indeed if - any corners may have been cut. Because of the high-quality tuning that it provides, the staggered tuners may be utilized with professional guitars. The advantage of staggered tuners is that they do not conflict with vibratos or tree hold-downs. I had a Strat through the workshop recently. The owner complained that the first string would pop out of the slot when he bent it lower down.

If you experience any problems, consider installing (or replacing) a string-tree. They’re not the worst things in the world and you can polish up the string path underneath with some fine sandpaper or some abrasive cord. You can even buff it really shiny if you’re so inclined. Personally I’d rather the (mostly solvable) problems of a string-tree than the (potentially insoluble) problems of a shallow string angle. The Bottom LineMaybe a brand new OEM clutch will be ok at stage 1 as I think mines the original at 116k, but I can't see it holding stage3+ as its quoted over 450ft/lbs, that's a fair bit more than my gt30'd 9k produced (425) Apart from that he's sold loads of these maps now, if the quotes were hot air the word would soon get out and everyone would go for other tuners. (I would, I'd be pretty miffed...) There are several explanations why staggered tuners are advantageous, and there are other elements other than tuners that influence tuning stability.

The gearing mechanism inside the tuner is completely sealed and permanently lubricated with Gotoh’s ‘Lubri-Coat’ technology. This is a coating applied to the worm gear and spur gear wheel to ensure a smooth action that also increases the durability to give you reliable performance time after time. Cooling your tuned engine is vitally important and many standard, OE cooling parts simply aren't up to the task once you start tinkering. Performance cooling parts like those from Mishimoto and Forge are designed to withstand the increased temperatures and power, providing the essential cooling qualities required so that the engine can run at the optimum temperature rather than struggling through in the stifling heat. Late last year, SSC released a video which claimed the Tuatara set a two-way average speed of 316.11mph on a closed strip of state highway, just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. The hypercar also reached a maximum claimed speed of 331.15mph during one of its runs. I could have made a new nut with stupidly deep slots but why make a sub-standard nut to deal with this problem.

So, the American Special slots in under the long-running American Standard range - for many, Fender's staple Tele. The more recent, matt-finished Highway One series also fills a spot in the market between the more affordable Mexican-made guitars and the upmarket American Standard and Vintage series, but lots of people want their guitars shiny, not matt.
